Date: April 24, 2024
Attention: Medicaid Providers
Deadline to complete survey: May 14, 2024
Call to action: The purpose of the communication is to inform prescribers of changes to the annual CMS Drug Utilization Review (DUR) Survey. The survey contains a new, required section of responses related to the Texas Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP). This year's survey is for data material from Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2023 (Oct. 1, 2022, to Sept. 30, 2023). Link to survey: CMS DUR Annual Survey–Provider PDMP Survey
How this impacts providers: This voluntary provider survey created by Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will assist HHSC in gathering the required data needed to report on Texas's PDMP usage and meet federal reporting requirements for the following DUR Survey question:
The percentage of covered providers (as determined pursuant to a process established by the State) who checked the prescription drug history of a covered individual through a PDMP before prescribing a controlled substance to such an individual.
How this information was obtained (through provider survey, provider attestation, PDMP vendor report, raw PDMP data using the median, or another method).
