Change in Preferred Drug List (PDL) Status for the Antiemetic-Antivertigo Agents, Drug Class

Date: January 24, 2025

Attention: Providers

Effective date: January 15, 2025

Call to action: Effective January 15, 2025, generic scopolamine patch will now be preferred. This is in response to the distribution delays of brand product Transderm-Scopolamine Patches by the manufacturer. The preferred status of the brand name Transderm-Scopolamine will not change.

How this impacts providers: The change will allow providers to prescribe the generic without requiring PDL prior authorization at this time and continue accessing necessary medication for their patients.

Next step for Providers: Prescribers are encouraged to proactively obtain a prescription for the preferred alternatives to avoid disruption in patient’s therapy. Prescribers should share this communication with their staff.
