Children's Health Insurance
Program (CHIP)
CHIP offers quality health insurance, making coverage affordable
for working families. This program offers complete health care
for children from birth to 19 years of age. CHIP coverage
includes prescriptions, vision care, and behavioral health and
drug abuse services. Texas Children’s Health Plan is the largest
CHIP provider in Harris and surrounding counties. Texas
Children’s Health Plan offers the following benefits for CHIP
members:
- Choice of more than 60
hospitals, including Texas Children’s Hospital
- Choice of more than 700 PCPs and
1,400 specialists
- Dental exams
- Free well-child exams and
immunizations
- Yearly eye exams
- Prescription drugs
- Free Texas Children’s Parent
Advice Line, with more than 275 recorded topics on children’s
health issues
- Free car seat safety checks by
appointment
- Free newsletter
- Safe Sitter class to train
preteen babysitters
- Free member appreciation day
- Free health fairs and parenting
classes
- Free transportation to your
doctor

CHIP is offered in the following
counties: Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Hardin, Harris, Jasper,
Jefferson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Newton, Orange, Polk,
San Jacinto, Tyler, Walker, Waller and Wharton.

pregnant women and adults. Texas Children’s Health Plan’s STAR
