Vision care, substance abuse and mental health

Behavioral health and substance abuse care
You can get behavioral health or substance abuse care when needed. You do not need a referral from your child’s PCP.

You can get treatment by:

  • Calling the Texas Children’s Health Plan Behavioral Health/Substance Abuse Hotline at 1-800-731-8528. The hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Choosing a behavioral health or substance abuse provider from the Texas Children’s Health Plan provider network.

If you have an emergency and need behavioral health treatment immediately, go to the nearest emergency room. You can also call the Texas Children’s Health Plan Behavioral Health/Substance Abuse Hotline toll free at 1-800-731-8528. Someone will help you get care right away. Once you are able, you, or someone on your behalf, will need to call the Texas Children’s Health Plan Behavioral Health/Substance Abuse Hotline. Let them know you had an emergency.

Vision care
Your child may need an eye exam or glasses. You do not need a referral from your child’s PCP. Call Block Vision at 1-800-879-6901 for an office near you.
